First Wednesday Readers Series – Lit Youngstown

May 3, 2023 @ 7:00 pm EDT

Lit Youngstown’s First Wednesday Readers Series presents poets Richard Ferris of Cleveland and B. Elizabeth Beck of Lexington, Kentucky, originally of Canfield. R.W. Franklin will co-host the free reading at the Westside Bowl on Mahoning Ave., on Wednesday, May 3 at 7:00pm. The featured readers will be followed by an open mic.

B Elizabeth Beck is a poet who writes fiction. Author of the Summer Tour Trilogy and four collections of poetry, Elizabeth is the founder of the Teen Howl Poetry Series that serves the youth of central Kentucky. Born and raised in Canfield, Elizabeth and her family reside on a pond in Lexington. Learn more at www.elizbeck.com.

Richard Ferris is a poet, artist, traveler and lifelong Clevelander.

The May reading, made possible by the Youngstown Foundation, will be the first reading in the series to take place in the lower level Trophy Room at the Westside Bowl. The Soap Gallery, now permanently closed, was host of the reading series for six years.

“We are so grateful to the Soap Gallery for hosting us,” Lit Youngstown director Karen Schubert said. “We have many memories of readings in this richly artistic space. We look forward to being at the Westside Bowl, also fun, funky and arts-rich.”

The June 7 reading will feature Arya F. Jenkins of Youngstown and Rose Smith of Columbus, co-hosted by Mari Alschuler. More information is available at www.LitYoungstown.org.
